Foundation Stage

Our Foundation Stage provides girls with a secure and supportive environment where they can thrive. From the very beginning of their time at the Falcons, we teach the girls to love learning. They quickly settle into school life, grow in self-confidence and learn to work and play as a member of a group. We have warm, welcoming Foundation and Reception classes with areas dedicated to creative play and reading.

Our Nursery and Reception girls enter the school on a ‘first-come, first-served' basis, and are therefore part of a mixed-ability class of eighteen girls. The girls are taught by a full-time teacher and assistants, who take the class for the majority of their lessons, building a close relationship, and establishing a supportive, happy and creative environment; the girls have specialist teachers for Music and French. The girls broadly follow the National Curriculum Foundation Stage Early Learning Goals. Lessons are ‘hands-on', using structured play, equipment and games, but with an emphasis on teaching the key reading, writing and Mathematical skills they will need in the lower school.
