Falcons Girls’ Get Their Game On

22nd January 19

Year 4 at Falcons School for Girls have been creating their own simple video games on the program PurpleMash in their Computing classes. They had to think of a theme, search for pictures to create a floor and sky and create their own characters.  To complement their learning, they had a special visitor to their  class to teach them more about the world of video games, Rhianna DeVries. Rhianna plays the main role in a popular game for older children and adults. Not only did she do the motion capture for the main character but the voice over as well.  During her visit the pupils found out more about the process of making a video game, listening to Rhianna  share stories about her work in the creation of the game. She also told the girls all about the other roles involved in the making of a video game.  The pupils asked a lot of questions about not only her work in the video game but also as an actress.  Below you can see what a couple of the pupils had to say about the visit.

‘In Computing, a visitor came to our class called Rhianna Devries. She plays the main role in a video game. We asked Rhianna some questions about the video game she was in. She plays Chloe in the game and her best friend is called Rachel who is actually an actress called Megan Kelly. Rhianna told us about the studio, the game, and how it was made. She also told us about her really good friends at the studio and some of her other jobs. She is also an actress and a singer. We asked her what inspired her to love drama and how she got chosen to be in the video game. She said: “well the producers invited me to be in the video game!” so they chose her. Rhianna showed us some photos of the studio, her friends, the video game and the difference between her and Chloe. We had a really fun and amazing time! I found everything she said very interesting and didn’t know how video games are made’.
